A romance so sweet it’ll give you a cavity…

After the devastating loss of my parents when I was in college, I vowed to focus all my energy on fulfilling my promise to my mom: to open up the hot chocolate store we’d always dreamed of running together.

No distractions. My plans are set.

But things heat up faster than I can handle when a bronzed lifeguard pursues me in the most delicious of ways. Mix in a stalker determined to throw me off my game, and a comical, ass-kicking Beach Squad (okay, ‘squad’ is a littler over the top…it’s just me and my two best friends)…well, then you have a situation that requires a level of bravery I don’t know if I possess.

I may appear to be a damsel in distress, but I can save my own damn self, thank you very much. And I might just keep that hottie lifeguard as the whipped cream on top of my sweet dreams.

Fave authors/authors that inspire you?

Alessandra Torre, Penny Reid, April Wilson, Fiona Cole, Kathryn Nolan, Kate Stewart…there’s a ton more, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Books you’ve read recently?

All of the Bearded brothers series by Penny Reid, The Ghostwriter by Alessandra Torre, Drive by Kate Stewart, Bohemian by Kathryn Nolan…pretty much 2-3 books per week!

Books by other authors you can’t wait to come out?

Alessandra’s Hidden Seams comes out in January, so that’ll be an obvious one-click. I’ve ordered a print version of Team Player which some of the authors have signed…I’m waiting till I have the print version in my hands to read it. Kathryn Nolan’s new one that is in the same series as Bohemian will be a one-click also.

Did you do any special research you did for this book?

Yes! I live in Huntington Beach and I flagged down a lifeguard one day at the beach and asked him a bunch of awkward questions. Had to tell him I was writing a book and that’s why the questions were so weird. Like, what do you guys call your Headquarters building? And other things like terms for certain things, procedures, pay grade, hours, responsibilities, etc. It helps to be familiar with the area in which your book is taking place…way less research needed!

Any chance of a sequel?

Yep, I have a whole series (Beach Squad Series) coming out in 2018 based on the Huntington Beach lifeguard hotties and their equally fearless ladies. Each book can be read as a stand-alone story, but the setting is the same and some of the characters overlap into other books in the series.

What are you writing right now?

I am writing Book #4 in the Beach Squad series, while editing the novella in the same series based on the character Bailey, whom you’ll meet and fall in love with in this first book, Sweet Dreams. I’ll be sending out the novella for free chapter-by-chapter to my newsletter peeps, probably starting in March.

Where do you write?

I write all over the place!! I’ve written the Beach Squad series while in Arizona, Huntington Beach CA, and Hawaii. I just go to the beach in my mind and the words flow, baby.

Do you outline before writing or are you a pantser?

Sweet Dreams was a total pantser. It was a story I told my daughter at bedtime (minus the steamy scenes of course!) and I finally put it down on paper. For the rest of the series, I do a thorough outline, which I mostly follow. Sometimes the story takes a turn I didn’t plan on, but for the most part, I follow the outline.

What is your favorite quote or line from your book?

It’s really sappy sweet, but it’s toward the end of the book when Esa looks around at the people in front of her, supporting her. She lost her parents when she was in college and she was an only child, so having a family means the world to her.

I’d felt lonely for many years, adrift without a family to anchor me. I’d just put my head down and focused on building my life again. Graduating college, starting my business. Becoming an adult. And without even realizing it, I’d also built a new family, the ones sitting before me. A family that didn’t have my past history to share, but one where I knew we’d have a long future to share.

Which was just as sweet.

What else would you like to tell us?

If you like a sweet romance, with steamy sex scenes, and you love the beach, this series of standalones is for you. There’s some humor, some suspense and lots of strong women coming together to support each other.
